Children’s Ministry

At St. John’s we are excited to share that we intentionally choose curricula that is Progressive in nature.

Please come join our Children’s Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. Sunday mornings upstairs as they journey through lessons that are progressive, faithful, and inspired.

At St. John’s United Methodist Church we welcome children! Our desire is for all children who come to St. John’s to experience God’s love in such a way that they will want to share love with others.

At St. John’s this is nurtured through…

  • interacting with caring adults
  • creating friendships with peers
  • studying the Bible and Christian heritage
  • learning to apply Biblical principles in our lives
  • worshiping with other Christians
  • working together in mission and outreach

Activities for Children

Acolytes: 3rd – 5th graders help lead us in worship each week by serving as acolytes. Opportunities to participate in acolyte training are given several times a year.

Vacation Bible School: Each summer children 3 years – through graduated 5th grade enjoy five days of learning, serving and having fun. Through stories, drama, music, science, outreach projects, worship, and games they learn more about Biblical stories and about loving others as Jesus did.

Summer Musical: Children, ages K-8th grade, are invited to participate in a summer musical choir camp. Children participating in the musical camp rehearse Monday through Friday mornings.

Nursery: Childcare for infants and children up to 4 years old is available during worship services and Sunday School weekly. The nursery is located in Room 117. Childcare is provided for all major church events and will be provided for additional meetings upon request. Our Nursery is overseen by our Director of Childcare Ministries, LaTrisha Hernandez.

Children’s Discipline and Safety: St. John’s is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children. Discipline and Safety Policies establish guidelines for safe practices, as well as guidelines for recruiting, screening, hiring, and supervision of childcare workers and volunteers. Copies of the guidelines and policy are available from the church office.
